Join Us!
We are actively recruiting motivated team members at all levels.
If you're excited about aging biology, geroscience drug discovery, and making a real impact,
we'd love to hear from you.
Our Philosophy
I believe the success of a lab starts with its people.
My goal is to support each team member’s growth, both in science and beyond.
We foster a respectful, collaborative, and curiosity-driven environment where everyone is encouraged to grow.
Our Values
We are guided by these principles:
Be a good person, do good work, do good science.
If these values resonate with you, you’ll fit right in.
How We Work Together
-
Group meetings to share ideas and data
-
Regular one-on-one mentoring sessions
-
Annual development reviews to reflect on progress and goals
-
Social events to build a supportive, inclusive lab culture
-
Enjoy the learning curves, the wins (big or small), the breakthroughs, and everything along the way.
-
And yes, you’ll have the freedom to explore bold ideas, develop new skills, and shape your own career journey.
Graduate Students:
Current or prospective UGA graduate students interested in rotations or mentorship opportunities are encouraged to reach out to Dr. Zhang (ljzhang@uga.edu). Trainees in the lab may gain exposure to drug design, high-content and phenotypic screening, cell biology, bioinformatics, and AI/ML-aided discovery. Students motivated to work at the interface of chemistry, biology, and data science will be especially well suited for the lab.
We especially welcome students with a strong background in organic synthesis who are interested in expanding into interdisciplinary areas of drug discovery.
Undergraduate Students:
We are currently at full capacity for undergraduate research assistants and are not accepting new undergraduate students at this time. However, openings may become available in future semesters. Motivated students interested in aging biology and drug discovery are welcome to check back in a future semester for updates.
Postdocs and Research Assistants:
To apply, please email Dr. Zhang (ljzhang@uga.edu) with:
-
A brief cover letter describing your past research and future interests
-
Your CV
-
Contact information for 2-3 references
